Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Dokkodo ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Dokkodo is a self-improvement and time-tracking application that helps users:

  • Track daily activities hour by hour
  • Set and execute daily commitments ("Single Cuts")
  • Progress through a gamified journey based on Miyamoto Musashi's Dokkodo
  • Complete challenges and earn rewards
  • Reflect on patterns and build discipline

User Accounts

Account Creation

  • You must create an account to use Dokkodo
  • You must provide accurate and complete information
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the App
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account

Account Security

  • Keep your password confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • You are responsible for all activities under your account

Account Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time through Settings
  • We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms
  • Upon termination, your data will be deleted

Acceptable Use

You agree to:

  • Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes
  • Provide accurate information in your activity logs
  • Respect the intellectual property of others
  • Follow applicable laws and regulations

You agree NOT to:

  • Share your account with others
  • Attempt to access other users' data
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the App
  • Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Upload malicious content or code
  • Use automated systems to access the App
  • Circumvent any security features

Intellectual Property

Our Property

  • The App, including its design, features, and content, is owned by us
  • "Dokkodo" name and logo are our trademarks
  • The Dokkodo teachings and quests are our original content

Your Content

  • You retain ownership of your activity logs and personal data
  • You grant us a license to store and process your content to provide the service
  • We will not use your content for purposes other than providing the App

Third-Party Content

  • References to Miyamoto Musashi and historical concepts are in the public domain
  • Any third-party trademarks are property of their respective owners

Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.

No Medical or Professional Advice

  • Dokkodo is for personal productivity and self-reflection only
  • The App does not provide medical, psychological, or professional advice
  • Consult appropriate professionals for health or mental wellness concerns

"As Is" Service

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING:

  • MERCHANTABILITY
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY

Service Availability

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted access
  • The App may be unavailable due to maintenance or technical issues
  • Features may change or be discontinued

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • We are not liable for loss of data, profits, or goodwill
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dokkodo and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

We will notify you of material changes through:

  • In-app notification
  • Email (if provided)
  • Notice on our website

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the appropriate courts.

Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

Before filing a formal complaint, contact us to attempt informal resolution.

Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in class actions.

Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Dokkodo.
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right.
  • Assignment: We may assign these Terms. You may not assign your rights without our consent.
  • Force Majeure: We are not liable for failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
